How GoNearMe ranks local places

Our goal is not to repeat a map list. We compare places according to the decisions people make before visiting.

1. Build a qualified shortlist

We check that a business is active, located in the covered city and has enough recent public information to support a useful comparison.

2. Use service-specific criteria

The criteria change with the service. Bars are compared by drinks, atmosphere, music, noise, value and planning ease. Brunch rankings would use food quality, wait time, reservations, group suitability and value.

3. Compare multiple signals

We review official venue information, map listings and recurring patterns in customer feedback. A high star rating alone does not determine rank. Repeated praise and repeated drawbacks matter more than one isolated comment.

4. Explain the match and trade-off

Featured places receive a clear “best for” use case, practical context and a consideration such as price, noise, wait risk or booking needs.

5. Recheck material details

Every ranking displays a checked date. Closed businesses, changed concepts and materially outdated details are corrected or removed during updates.

Automation and editorial review: tools may assist with collecting, structuring and comparing public information. A ranking is not published until its shortlist, claims, links and reader-facing recommendations pass editorial checks.
